I started my career as a Professional Saxophonist in Portugal in February 1996. At the time I was living in Alentejo (the plains of Portugal) . It was tough work as a solo artist however I had some success and made new friends. In June of 1998 things began to change as I decided to find more work in Lisbon. This gave me the chance to play at EXPO´98 in August in front of about 5,000 people with two percussionists and a DJ named KIKI who manages Bar Do Rio in Cais do Sodri, Lisbon. Kiki liked me so much he engaged me to play at his bar 3 or 4 times a month. In the process of working here I made lots of friends and recieved several chances to play elsewhere. One of these friends who I met at Bar do Rio gave me a chance to play at Espaço Fatima Lopes in February 1999. My debut was so good that I played there 3 times a week until October 1999. This is a great place with all kinds of people coming to the bar. Fatima Lopes asked me to play at Moda Lisboa (Lisbon's Fashion week, that year staged at Expo) for her 1999/2000 collection. I was one of only a few live musicians at the show, plus it was shown on national television too.

For June and July of 1999 I was part of Moda Bairro Alto 1999 (Fashion of Bairro Alto) which is the area of Lisbon where Espaço FL is situated; there were 9 shows based on different parts of fashion in Portugal and was produced by Carlos Sampaio who works with Fatima Lopes.
