Automatic For The People

This is one of REM's most high profile albums - and best selling.

It carries some of the most familiar pop tunes of the 90's; Drive, Man On The Moon and Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite.

Man On The Moon in particular became an anthem of today's youth - often-sung and well-loved by all. Few were aware of its critical theological overtones. As a song alone it stands the test, but looks at it lyrical credentials and you will a classic release. Heaven is decried as there is no space for it between the Earth and the title-refernced moon. "See you in heaven if you make the list" further attacks the improability of subjective selection for this illusory utopia.

Also, Andy Kaufman gets several mentions as the inimitable comedian and star of "Taxi" in the 70's.

Other unreleaseed tracks worthy of mention here would certainly include Ignoreland and the brooding Star Me Kitten.
