Eternal Sleep was born in 1993 when Luca (male vocals & all the lirics), Filippo (guitar) and Francesco (guitar)
had got the intention to play sad music following the inspiration of the European Doom-Dark-Death Scene (Anathema,
My Dying Bride and Bathory). We play longer with another line-up and finally since 1995 Eternal Sleep is: Luca, Filippo and Francesco with Bruno (bass guitar), Carla (female vocals), Stefano (drums), Andrea (keyboards) and finally Michele (violin that came in again after some personal problems). With this line-up we have recorded in September '95 our "Eternal Sleep" demo, 4 tracks + outro for about 30 minutes of ethereal and atmospheric music. Now we are trying to play with another guitarist (Moreno, 3rd guitar !!) and a cello but isn't so easy to play with us because they must enter in our music feeling. Our first demo in a two-concepts tape: I mean, side 1 ("Dancing with my Eyes closed" and "Song of the knight-Eternal Love") is LOVE concept. Side 2 ("Life-long sorrow" and "Forget, Remember") is a PAIN concept: PAIN & LOVE, LOVE & PAIN, two ways of our life. First song deals about emotions; "Song of..." tells the story of a knight that comes back home after a long war and tries to find his woman but now she is dead in love. In the second side especially "Forget, Remember" (singed by Carla, a song with only acoustic guitar by Francesco and vocals) deals about died memories and remembrances: a kind of different pain. We think, and most, I think that we should "take the time" and try not to waste the moments of our life. To live all the moments in the better way and to feel the emotions that this life gives. So in my opinion music is important because can make us more able to recept feelings, passion that only music can give. The overall response has been great and we are more than satisfied with it. Very positive and exciting reviews. Someone considers us even the italian answer of My Dying Bride... but for me is too much !!! Helped by this good course we have signed for a CD compilatiom for DAWN OF SADNESS, a small label in Cagliari. This compilation called "SCREAMS FROM ITALY VOL.2" is out with 16 italian bands like Eternal Sleep, Vladimir, Obscurity, In Low Spirits and others. Now we are making our second chapter and there are some news. It will be called "Scene 2... My Fallen Angel" (no relationship with John Milton's "Paradise Lost") and will be 40 minutes longer and will be out in October-November '97. The sound will be not so linear and all the members now had composed. In the new tracklist there will be also a very strange cover of a classic song by ULTRAVOX or CURE, bands that we like for the attitude about music. Also there will be a song with the sad sound of a trumpet (wow !! we like this sound) and others typical sounds of Eternal Sleep like violins, atmospheric keyboards and acoustic and cruschin guitars. So we try to make better than our first chapter. We hope to will get out our second demo as soon as possible. Now we have received some proposals like exclusive distribution for Italy and others countries for our new release and someonelses contributions but we have to think for our second work. After this, we'll probably go to a professional studio where we'll record a mix of songs of the first and the second demo for a debut MCD or CD release. So labels try to contact us... !! Now we have a strange sounds like TROMBONE and SLIDE GUITAR in some songs and every song isn't so linear... many progressive elements in our new songs. Perhaps there will be a cover version of CURE or ULTRAVOX. So stay tuned with ETERNAL SLEEP!!! |
