Michael

Michael Oughton began as a guitarist and graduated from Arts Magnet High School in Dallas, TX. Many phenomenal artists were students there at the time: Roy Hargrove, Erykha Badu, Patrice Pike and Darrell Phillips of Sister 7 among others. He went to Weatherford College as a guitarist, but when the bassist who was supposed to show up the second year didn't, he picked up acoustic bass. Two years later, he attended University of North Texas and then moved down to Baton Rouge, LA. There he played with Wessell Anderson, Delfeayo Marsalis, and Alvin Batiste. Michael joined the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC. He then went on the road with a rock band and started to develop the electric bass. Michael now lives and plays in the Philadelphia area.
