Ungovern Mental is supposed to be a dead band by now. They broke up in March/April 1997. Although, some rumours stated that they were recently reharsing, nothing serious for now but maybe in the furure we could finally hear the set of songs that they never recorded. They play a fast blend of anarcho/crust punk who even find its root into the earlier discore. With rumbling double bass-drum and metalic grinding guitar the guys rock. Most of their lyrics are social/politic minded. Ungovern-Mental is a band from the suburbs of Montreal.

A brief Historic:
I first met the Mentals, mostly unknown under the name of Scrap at that time, as me and my band where looking for a local to reharse. Contest, the band of a friend of mine, was moving into a underground local with Scrap. By pure luck Pat, the guitarist of Contest, asked us if we wanted to join them and so share at 3 bands the rent fees. We jumped on the occasion and that's when we met Scrap. The original line-up in October 1995 was made of Dave and Martin on vocals, Pat 'Bug', guitarist, Olivier, bassist, and Pipi as the drummer. They made a few gigs and had a little set, It didn't take too long before Pipi was thrown out of the band for many reasons. It was Charles, our drummer at the time, who replaced him. They recorded their first songs (2) for a compilation.

Due to a terribly awfull performance in December 1995 at a sugar shack party the band almost broke up. Charles and Martin where really pissed off and were talking about quiting the band. Martin left the band short after. It was then that came Jean-Phillipe. This line-up lasted until May/June 1996 time wich found J-P thrown out. Meanwhile the band managed to gain some notoriety' with many shows (Montreal,Quebec City, Sherbrooke, Ottawa) and recorded first true record a split tape with Antipathic System.

Ungovern-Mental in Philly December 96From then Dave held the vocals alone and the line up stayed the same. In June 1996 they recorded 4 old songs in Quebec City for a slpit 7" with Disagree and that found later to be distributed by Profane Existance. From June 1996 to February 1997 it was the band's Golden Years. With a tour and many gigs/punk-fest to the Usa (Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Grand-Rapids, Philly). But as all good things have an end, somewhere in spring of 1997 the band broke up for many internal reasons.
From now, Dave had played with Disagree, Charles now held the drumsticks for Seized. Although they have reharsed a few times and maybe one day they'll finally record the last set of songs played live but never recorded.

LYRICS:
Nuclear Disaster
They were just innocent paysants
And the next day their bodies were burning
You fucked up their lifes in the name of the war
The nuclear disaster it's all your fault
US governement you gonna pay for your crime
We cant forget your sensless violence
Yes one day you gonna pay for your crime
We have to stop your fucking domination
You want your glory and they have to pay it
In a nuclear doom like Hiroshima
You dont fucking care just insane as you are
But let me tell you they gonna have their revenge
Bomb after bomb
Doom after doom
War after war
Sufferance is their pay
Disgust
No reason to abuse
Innocent victime
Stupid bastard
You rape children you have to die!
Because nothing, No, nothing
Can justify your move
Your sexual attitude
Gonna make your death
Dont you have any remorse
Towards children victimes of your disgusting act
All this disgust over you
Never it gonna get the fucked up
Disgust (x3)
Fool's War
Too much suffering and too many people died
Too many bombs and too much violence
You dont care about any fucking lifes
You just think about your fucking dope
All that you hope is your fucking cash
All that you need is your big territory
All that you want is to terrorize people
But what you make it's your autodestruction
Before man killed for survival
Now man kill for power
You like your power more than your life
Tell me where is the human progress
All that I say is for nothing
Because you know all what I try to say
So what could we do what could we say?
Look what you do look what you fucking say!
