The Founders of "Spooky Core"
* Dez started Coal Chamber by putting an ad out in a newspaper in the LA area... Meegs return his ad. So, Coal Chamber birth came in the Spring of 1994.
* Ross Robinson was going to be the producer for Coal Chamber, Coal Chamber...but after working with him at rehearsal for an hour... Coal chamber decided not to go with him, because he would have changed them too much into "another" band. That's is what Jay Gordon (Orgy) and Jay Baumgardner came along!
* Coal Chamber was first called Coal (which Dez liked) and Meegs liked Chamber, so they put the two together to make what we know as Coal Chamber. Also, there was another band with the name, Coal.
* Dino Cazares from Fear Factory brought coal chamber to the attention of Roadrunner's Monte Conner.
* They don't have one set style...they keep evolving but the only thing they wanna keep is the darkness.
* Dez left the band for almost a year and found himself lost and missing the music and performing. He return in the Spring of 1995, after Meegs came knocking at his door asking to put all the "magic" back together.
* Coal Chamber was signed to Roadrunner in December 1995.
* "Amir of the desert" was written about Amir Derakh ( Orgy).
* Sharon Osbourne (Ozzy's wife) was Coal Chamber's manager and the band now is under Left Bank Management (home of Motley Crue, Cranberries, etc.)
* Coal Chamber have toured with so many bands some being: Type O negative, Pantera, Downset, Powerman 5000, Sevendust, Life of Agony, Human Waste Project, Slipknot, the many Ozzfests, etc.
* "Chamber Music" was first recorded in Boston until moving to LA to finish.
* Ozzy puts guest vocals on the cover track "Shock the Monkey" on "Chamber Music"
* Coal Chamber is in the process of suing ICP for 200k for breech of contact.
* Coal Chamber started their shows with the theme song for the movie, Halloween during the last tours.
* Coal chamber's self titled has gone gold.
* The band had to pay 7k to get their official site back from a "friend".
*To everyone... NO NO NO Mike and Miguel are NOT really lovers.. they both are very much heterosexual and have girlfriends.
*During Rayna's Pregnancy leave.. Coal Chamber hired a temp bassist, Nadja Peulen (for more info on Nadja look under my Nadja links for a great site).
*Coal Chamber's influences include: Black Sabbath, The Cure, Nick Cave, Motley Crue, etc.
*In the new year of 2001... we shall see a new album from Coal Chamber according to Dez.
*75% of Coal Chamber will live in Cali and Rayna will remain in Atlanta, GA.
