Why am I doing this?

The World is in too much of a bad state not to do this. So we either wise-up and get away from these glam T.V shows about how Brad is cheating on Mandy or we live with the consequence's that our children's children will have to shoulder the burden of our carelessness.

So why Tibet?

Tibet is one of the most beautiful countries I have ever read about, been told about, taught about and seen. And since I am a Buddhist it is a holy place for me and I hold its value to the world very close to my heart.

These are the peaceful Tibetan mountain sides where peace full Buddhist monks live.

What about Tibet?

WHAT CHINA ARE DOING THAT'S SO BAD?

  1. CHINA ADMITS TO NUCLEAR WASTE ON TIBETAN PLATEAU

As China's nuclear needs grow so does China's disposal of nuclear materials. Tibet is continually a prime target for the Chinese to dump there radioactive chemicals due to Tibets large high altitude and vast wide empty spaces. This also affects the rest of Asia because five major rivers in Asia (Indus, Brahmaputra, Ganges, Yellow and Yangtze) all have their headwaters on the Tibetan plateau. By primally polluting Tibet's land and rivers with nuclear waste, the Chinese government has put half of the world's population at risk of nuclear contamination. Because of Tibet's high elevation, any environmental hazards which are created by the Chinese government in Tibet, trickle down into the rest of Asia. The mass deforestation in Tibet causes soil erosion and silt buildup all the way down the major rivers of central Asia, subsequently causing flooding, low fish populations and infertile soil.

  2. China invaded Tibet in 1952 and began to replace the old way of life with communism. Tibetan culture was suppressed, until finally, in 1959, the Dalai Lamas was forced to flee into exile.

  3. According to records, 1.2 million Tibetans died between 1949 and 1979 as a result of the Chinese occupation. The statistics show: 173,221 Tibetans died after being tortured in prison. 156,758 Tibetans have been executed by the Chinese. 432,705 Tibetans were killed while fighting Chinese soldiers. 342,970 Tibetans have starved to death. 92,731 Tibetans publicly tortured to death. 9,002 Tibetans committed suicide.
  4. In Dharamsala, India, the Tibetan Government has been reorganized along modern democratic lines with a parliamentary system of government. The Tibetan cabinet is elected by the 46-member Assembly of Tibetan people's Deputies (the Tibetan parliament in exile). A Charter for the Tibetan exiles has been adopted and passed by the Parliament in June 1991. As compared to the progress made by Tibetans in exile, the situation in Chinese- occupied Tibet is grim. The following are the facts.
  5. *Tibetans, at the risk of torture, imprisonment, and execution, have never accepted the Chinese occupation of their country. In 1996 the Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy recorded 204 known cases of arrests for Tibetans for exercising their freedom of expression and assembly. Arrests have resulted from peaceful actions ranging from the possession of a picture of the Dalai Lama or the Tibetan national flag, the voicing of 'Free Tibet' or a non-violent demonstration of just a few minutes duration.
  6. *The accelerating Chinese population transfer into Tibet has reduced the Tibetan people to a minority in their own land. Today there are over 7.5 million non-Tibetan settlers in Tibet including Chinese and Hui Muslims, compared to six million Tibetans. As the Chinese control over all spheres of economic, social and political life is tightened, the Tibetan people are further and further marginalised.
  7. *Tibet, once a peaceful buffer state between China and India, has been transformed into a vast military base, holding between 300,000 and 500,000 troops and one-quarter of China's 350-missile strong nuclear force.
  8. *Over 6,000 monasteries, temples and historic structures have been looted and razed, their ancient irreplaceable religious art and literature destroyed or sold by the Chinese - 80% during the 'democratic reforms' before 1966, and the remaining 20% during the cultural revolution, according to Chinese official statements.
  9. *China discourages the teaching and study of Buddhism in Tibet. Prayers and festivals are banned. In the summer of 1996, Chinese authorities shot and killed monks for refusing to give up their photographs of H.H. the Dalai Lama. A ban on photographs of His Holiness persists today throughout Tibet.

What Can I do to help the People of Tibet?

What made me finally click to realize what was happening?

All my life I have been this person I didn't understand, I thought who I was back then was gonna be me forever. Its like when your younger and you have these best-friends and you think your gonna be with them forever, but your not because you find better friends. So just like I thought I would have those old beliefs back then, I found out new beliefs by educating myself about what's going-on around the world. And what I found out wasn't good.

Television always showed me the good things about life, I was brought up around T.V since my parents did not know anything about Western Culture. I was shown these fashion items which gave me a social class belief, I thought I had to stay above to be accepted by today's society. If I wasn't cool I wasn't in. Its all out of control over in the west and now the financial fascist market has begin to crawl to these Third World Countries. Music by Rage Against The Machine blew me of my feet and from there I started to educate myself.

And like they say MONEY makes the world go round. Even if it means putting financial value before the value of human rights.
