On 14 April, 1912 the unexpected happened= The RMS Titanic, "the grandest, most magnificent ocean liner ever built, met disaster on her maiden voyage. Moments before striking the iceberg, she was heralded as a marvel, man's greatest achievement, an engineering masterpiece. It was said she was unsinkable". Man's trust in technology and science, as demonstrated in the design and construction of the Titanic, had crowned her beyond even the .

SALMO 24=
salvao.
6 Tal a gerao daqueles que o buscam, daqueles que buscam a tua face,
 Deus de Jac.
7 Levantai, portas, as vossas cabeas; levantai-vos, entradas
eternas, e entrar o Rei da Glria.
8 Quem o Rei da Glria? O Senhor forte e poderoso, o Senhor
poderoso na batalha.
9 Levantai, portas, as vossas cabeas; levantai-vos, entradas
eternas, e entrar o Rei da Glria.
10 Quem esse Rei da Glria? O Senhor dos exrcitos; ele o
Rei da Glria.

As the passengers and crew boarded the Titanic, most believed the voyage to America would be safe. What an adventure and privilege to be the first to cross the Atlantic on board the Titanic! All who boarded did so with excitement and awe, but not for the Creator of the Universe. Their homage was reserved for a . Even after the ship struck the iceberg, many did not believe it would sink. They refused to go to the life boats! Though disaster was eminent and all were warned, many would not be distracted from their gay evening plans and, eerily, the band played on.....

In all, 1,522 souls crossed the mysterious chasm separating this world from eternity. They represented a microcosm of this world, multicultural and multiracial. Their number included the most wealthy and famous in the world, down to the most simple and poor. Yet, death does not . Money and position could not purchase their salvation from the dark sea of death. They all helplessly faced the grip of a certain icy demise.

The question we must ask is to them after death stopped their hearts? What were their regrets as the icy waters swallowed them into a place from which there is no return...no second chance. We all know instinctively that there is a God. We also know instinctively that He is holy and righteous. And yet, we also know that in ourselves we are not holy or righteous. Who can stand in His presence?

Our great world, much like the great ship, is slowly . The great "iceberg," which will take the world to an icy grave is the Moral Law—the Ten Commandments. Here is the evidence that we are sinking:

If we stay with the "ship," we will perish on the Day of Judgment, when all of our sins come out as evidence of our guilt. But where is the lifeboat?

God is . He made a way for us to be saved. Jesus Christ, the One whom the Bible calls the "Captain of our salvation", gave His life so that we could have a place in the life boat, the place reserved for us since the of the world. He took our punishment, the punishment we deserved, upon Himself— on the cross for us. We broke God's Law, but He paid our fine. Then He rose from the dead, defeating death. The moment we repent and trust in Him alone for our eternal salvation, God will forgive us and grant us the gift of .

As with the passengers of the Titanic, only those who believed that they were in impending danger looked to the lifeboats, so only those who believe that they are in mortal danger will look to the Savior, Jesus Christ. Don't . You may leave it too late! It was reported that some of the lifeboats that left the ship early were only half full. This was because many on board refused to believe that the —unsinkable— Titanic was sinking. They perished because their faith was misguided and their confidence was in the wrong place. Don't be like them. the gospel. Repent and trust Jesus Christ today, read the Bible daily, obey what you read, and God will never allow you to . He will never leave you nor forsake you.
