" Goodbye," I said as I hugged him, trying hard not to cry. I opened the door and was immediately whisked away by a very angry Erik.
" How dare you kiss him! How dare you! How could you do this to me? Do you want me to kill him?"
" NO! Erik! You need to calm down! I was saying goodbye to him. I wasn't asking him to marry me. You have decided to take over my life, I do appreciate you letting me see my friends one last time, but I had the right of doing what I choose in that time period, whether you like it or not!"
He stood in an angry silence. For a fearful moment, I thought that he was going to strike me.
" Still, I don't want you thinking you can go back to him. You belong to me now, I hope that you will learn that soon. I am not that bad of a person. If you had a face like mine, you would know how I feel. My parents promised me that I would have you as a wife. When I first saw your picture, I immediately fell in love with you."
I had a feeling that he was now talking to himself, not to me.
This information that he was telling me, was extremely weird. As
I listened to him recount the time when he first saw the picture of me,
I realized that he
was saying that it was his parents' fault that I was in this mess.
I didn't know whether to believe him or not. The sky was starting
to get lighter and lighter as dawn approached. We finally reached
my house. Erik led me around to a tree where he picked a patch of
grass up where underneath was a metal door. He inserted a key in
and twisted it to the right, then opened it up.
He motioned for me to go down first. I noticed that it was well
lit by a string of lights all down the tunnel. A short stepladder
descended into the ground before going into a long hallway of ground out
dirt. Erik took my arm and led me down the tunnel. My dress
was getting muddy from the wet dirt all around, but Erik didn't seem to
notice nor the sloshing noise it made as I took every step. For some
reason I thought that he would care that my dress was getting muddy.
I guess it was because I had not gotten any sleep. I thought about
Scott. It looked like we could never be a couple. Not with
Erik here. I hoped that he would find the right girl, without forgetting
about me, or even better, help me get out of this mess! Finally,
we reached Erik's house. He took out a weird, orange key and inserted
into the doorknob. After an electronic buzz, the door opened.
Why was he letting me
know how to get when he didn't trust me earlier? I mean, come
on! I was kissing Scott, my friends and parents know I've been kidnapped!
Why was he being so careless?
" Now I hope you are somewhat satisfied with your
good-byes. I am very tired; I assume that you are as well.
Therefore, I suggest that we both get some sleep. I will awaken you
a five o'clock. When you change out your
dress, leave it on the chair so that I can wash out those horrid dirt
marks. Have a pleasant rest now." As usual, he had to give
me a goodnight kiss on the cheek.
Before leaving, he said,"By the way, you remember that mirror, the one with the diamonds around it? It's my high tech security system, which will melt anyone who doesn't belong here. So don't try anything stupid. Goodnight."
