Annual Critics Poll of the U.S. jazz magazine Down Beat

The results of the Annual Critics Poll is published in the August issues. There is also an Annual Readers Poll, the results of which are published in the December issues. It seems that the readers are very much influenced by the Critics Poll in their decisions. Down Beat's polls do not only cover the jazz albums and reissues of the year (listed below), but also the best musicians according to instrument and a broad range of other evaluations.

Unlike Jazzman, the selections of a notable bunch of well known international criticists lead to a ranking within the listed records, the topmost listed records here being the most popular.
