Kirk Hammett is the Lead Guitarist of the World Famous Band METALLICA. He has been with the band since 1983. He was selected as the lead guitarist for Metallica after they (James and Lars) saw him whale out seemingly impossible solo's while with his band Exodus. They asked him if he would like to come down to the studio and work on Kill 'Em All. Of course he accepted, but he says that he didn't even know he was in the band until they were finishing up in the studio and saw his picture on the inlay, then he figured he was in.
