Lars Ulrich was a young teenager in Europe following the NWOBHM(New Wave Of British Heavy Metal)when he placed an ad wanting someone to jam with in a magazine called The Recycler. The ad didn't attract much attention at first, but after a while he received a response from James Hetfield a.k.a. The angriest kid in the world wanting to jam. Little did he know that a few years later they would form a band known as METALLICA.
