The rave scene is slowly, but surely diminishing. While some of the reasons are completely reasonable and legitimate others are not. This directly violates our first amendment rights! I have been very lucky to have grown up with a liberal mother who has instilled her beliefs in me. She likes to go to clubs, she drinks, she parties. When discussing things with her she is very open, in some cases she is not though. ( I guess it depends on the subject and usu she has a legit reason for disagreeing ) She works at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. She has held 2 raves ( put on by 2 totally differnet promoters! )in her venue, both of which resulted in broken mirrors, among many other distructive things. She has managed to keep an open mind about raves and ravers though. She is weary about the subject, but is still open to being proven wrong.

After a recent discussion with her about what permits and insurance were needed and what their purpose with production of a rave it all began to make a little more sense. A permit allows a company or group ( in this case a promoter ) to use a venue's land. The insurance is not to make an event unbustable. It does make it so, if anything happens to a person/people at the rave or to the property, the insurance covers it, thus the promoter is not responsible for it, and it is paid for. When property gets destroyed and people get hurt not only will the insurance company bump up the price of insurance, but it will re-evaluate the reasons for giving thr promoter/s the insurance. If such things continue to happen, it will become extremely hard to get insurance because the insurance company will think the promoter is unresponsible and unreliable. When property is destroyed and people is injured, thus makiing the land owner think twice about giving the promoter's the permit to use the venue. Neither the permits nor the insurance make the event unbustable. It makes them LEGAL

We also began talking about Ravers/Raves, basically the rave scene. She stated that every scene ( the club, punk, rap, alternative scene, etc. )has had it's bad time in the public's eye, now it is the rave scenes turn ( stop the raves 20/20 ) just as it has surpased the other scenes the rave scene will eventually be surpassed.

The club scene started out underground and was bad mouthed too. Eventually the public moved on and clubbing became more accepted. Raves started out completely underground and a majority of them still are which makes the public think "BAD". I feel that in time the public ( being everyone outside )will find a new scene to pusue and just as the club scene did become a little more accepted and eventually raves will be out the eye of the public completely and we will be able to rave in peace!
