Why bass?--I've wanted to be in a band since i
was 10, I tried being in the school band, and I played trumpet for awhile.
I didn't like the school band because we had so many fuckin rules, it pissed
me off. I was trying to play music because i like it and was always told
im not playing right. Well, I dropped the trumpet and decided I was going
to get into drumming, and i figured id stick around the school band thing
for awhile with drums and go off on my own once i knew the basics. Of course
that never happened, because the band teacher told me I couldn't play drums
because there we're already alot of people playing. So I gave up on that
and started listening to music, separating bass, from guitar, and all different
instruments, so I figured (around the age of 14) that I would learn to
play guitar. I got into a guitar class my sophomore year in high school,
and learned the basics, chords/notes/scales, and I had only played for
a year but i was already playing some difficult music. I owe all of my
musical knowledge to my guitar instructor, Mr. Brown. Before I even started
his class, Chris and I had planned to start a band for about 2 years or
so, and He had his guitar and everything, and I couldn't keep myself away
from playing bass, The different basslines and rhythms, so I decided to
Play bass guitar for our band. Once i learned guitar, it was pretty easy
switching over to bass. I'm still not the best guitar player, or the best
bass player, but im doing what I like to do, so it doesn't matter how good
or bad I am.
What does the band name mean?--Well, Im picturing
all these weird kids, ya know-colored hair, piercings, tattoos, baggy clothes-and
they are always being criticized about the way they dress and everything
because it not how your 'supposed' to be. They're not normal. But they
don't care, they're not doing anything wrong, they don't do drugs, they
don't kill people, they're not bad people. But everyone brings them down
about it. They chose The Other Path. Everyone is walking along this
small trail which is molded around society, and we're breaking out. No
one can mold you to be something your not. Don't be a follower.
