Now THIS is Industrial music. Dirk Ivens has consistantly been the voice
that screams in the face of those who say that Industrial is dead. Since
his debut with Klinik in the eighties, he has been one of the boldest pioneers
and innovators on the scene. He helped found Blok 57, and then moved on
to form his first solo project, DIVE, almost single-handedly creating the
Power Noise movement through his influence. He now has two "solo" projects
(he has his assistants), DIVE and Sonar. He is still going strong. On 'Snakedressed',
Dirk shows us he's still the man with whom to contend. The sound is harsh,
but a little more beat driven than in past efforts. It is still a very
innovative and astounding release, although it is a little easier to digest
than some of his past efforts. In short, it's DIVE. It can't be bad for
that reason, so buy it. If you already have it, listen to it now. Love
it. Yummyyummyyummy......mmmmmmmmmmmmm..............
Best Tracks: Snakedressed, Machinegun Baby, Sufferhead
This is a collection of demos, compilation tracks, and live tracks from 1991 to 1993. These are some very very cool tracks, boyo. Some of them taste more like the older DIVE which was extremely minimalist and repetitive, and other tracks remind me of his more modern, highly complex technique. My all-time favorite DIVE song is contained herein, that song being "Killing Time". The song is a paean to the nature of the machine, sort of a hymn for the post-industrial age, if you will. In any case, it's beautiful music. Noise lovers, unite.
