Hole rules and they are the best punk band in the world. In the words of Kurt D.Cobain (R.I.P.): "Courtney Love is the best f**k in the world"..and he's probably right! [email protected]
In my opinion I think Courtney Love is like so amazing, she's not quite god but if god was to ever envy some one I think it would be her. Hole as a band is the one of the best things that has ever happened to music, props to the band hole isn't only Courtney. [email protected]
I haven't been a Hole fan for very long (only since June) and I must say they are extremely awesome band. Courtney just ROCKS. I have Live Through this and can't wait until Celebrity skin comes out, also to see them play on the MTV music video awards. [email protected]
Your OPINIONS on "Celebrity Skin"
Basically, all I have to say about Celebrity Skin is "Someone kill me now...". Hole pretty much sold out with "Live through this" but they formed a pretty solid die hard fan base. They've gone beyond selling out and it's a shame. I'm really disappointed. Critics are raving about it and they never rave abou Hole, at least not here. I can't believe Eric, Patty and Melissa stood for it. I swear it's just a cruel joke. I've been with Hole since Pretty on the inside was released and personally I think that is the real Hole. I have no idea who this Hole is: I can't stand what they did with "Sugarcoma". They took such a magnificant song and really fucked it up! I'm still a Hole fan, not this Hole. This album is going to attract a lot of new listeners that don't even know who Hole is. [email protected] -September 9 1998-
Did you listen to the new album? I went and bought it the first day it came out and I don't know how to feel about it!!! I mean I knew it was different but not that much. It's good but I miss her edgy voice and lyrics. I respect her so much and I don't want to diss her or anything. I so wanna see her in concert, even though I don't like her Celebrity Skin as much. She'll always be in my heart, anyway...... [email protected]-September 9 1998-
I don' know if I like "Celebrity Skin" yet... I got it yesterday and I listened to it; It's all about Kurt and Frances, which is ok, I just miss the famous "Courtney Scream". She only screams a little in this record. Definetly different from "Pretty on the inside". [email protected] -September 10 1998-
The new album "Celebrity Skin" is great but it's not that heavy. I was hoping it would sound more like "Pretty on the inside". It's not Hole's best, but what the hell! Nobody's goddamn perfect. Peace, Love & Anarchy! [email protected] -September 13 1998-
I felt like this must have been such a release for Courtney, and with the help of friends, and family and of course her small innocent creation: Frances. I think it's a very soul felt, gut wrenching, pop-punk grrl, screaming ballad fest. It's beautiful. [email protected] -September 15 1998-
The record is totally amazing, a huge creativity leap for Hole, this is not to say the old stuff sucks. My first impression was that it was a watered down commercial pop trash record, but after a few listens I came to the realisation that they'd just become better songwriters, and Courtney a better lyrisist. My fav. tracks are Dying, Awful, Boys on the radio and Use Once and Destroy. [email protected] -September 15 1998-
This cd was horrible. There was no depth or passion behind it. I'm a fairly big Hole fan. I have all the discs, and boy was this album a let down. None of the songs were that great, dilluted rock at best. The production was good, but is this album going to be the disappointment of the year, and to think Michael Beinhorn did so well with Marylin Manson's mechanical animals, but yet made Hole's horrible celebrity skin. [email protected] -September 16 1998-
I can say this album is not as strong as "Live through this". But it's not a bad album. In fact it's GOOD. I define a GOOD album as one that I feel has at least three solid hits on it. A GREAT album would be "Live trhough this" which was strong throughout. An album like Nirvana's Nevermind. I think what happened with "Celebrity Skin" is that Courtney was just too busy with her movie career to put togethr another GREAT album. So she pulled in Corgan to help. It's a shame 'cause I think that the only strong song on the album that Corgan co-wrote is "celebrity Skin". I think "Reasons to be beautiful" and "Playing your song" are much better songs than all the other Corgan songs (dying,etc...). All in all it's a GOOD album! [email protected] -September 16 1998-
The album rocks though it is an advanced evolution for the band. It's so crafty! It is where they were heading though I think. Courtney still has the lyrical bite and magnetism and Eric still extracts musical candy and lust out of his guitar, expecially on "Northern Star". And "Awful" is so much like an anthem, to go mental to. [email protected] -September 18 1998-
All I can say about the Celebrity Skin is that I like it. Not as much as Live Through this, but I like it. I just miss the scream. It's just like the Smashing Pumpkins. Maybe Courtney and Billy didn't want to scream anymore....but I cannot imagine that's true. [email protected] -September 22 1998-
It's a great cd with wonderful, touching lyrics in it. I'd tell you my favorite song(s)...but really they are all my favorite!! Courtney's voice and guitar playing couldn't be better!!!! [email protected] -September 26 1998-
I love Celebrity Skin! I think that is Hole's best work yet!!! They have shown the world that they are here in the Rock world to stay and also what real rockstars should be like! [email protected] -September 26 1998-
"Celebrity Skin" is Hole's best album to date. All I can really say about Courtney and the gang is that they just get better all the time. There isn't one song on this album that I don't find breathtaking and I'm so glad to see Courtney with a guitar again. I knew she would return with something great... and I built myself up for it, knowing that I wouldn't be let down and I was 100% correct. Celebrity Skin is one of the greatest rock songs of this year..."Malibu" simply makes me fell great..and "Boys on the radio": I just really kinda relate to this song and I loved it when it was "Sugarcoma" and now I love it even more.I really get frustrated with people when I hear about how they don't like it because it's different and they miss the "old" courtney and yadda yadda yadda. All I have to say to that is "The Earth will never stop rotating for you, life goes on, People change and better themselves so get over it". [email protected] -September 28 1998-
Celebrity Skin is completely different from Pretty on the inside; these two records have nothing in common, for me. But I like it and in particular his first single Northern star (in my opinion so similar to Doll parts...), Reasons to be beautiful and Playing your song... I only hate Awful (and I don't know WHY!?!). The Hole's music is now less violent but the energy remains, and the texts are the same...However, Live through this still rests the true masterpiece. I hope all this will be a good mean to promote the sales of former records. [email protected] -September 26 1998-
I'd like to answer
the mail that:
[email protected] sent to you:
"I really don't consider Hole as a punk band. Why's
everyone saying:
Nirvana was punk, Hole's punk etc. It's grunge. I think
Hole has been
thru a lot of genres during the years. In the beginning
it probably was
more ounk than grunge. Nowadays it's pop. Live throught
this was grunge.
So actually you can't say that Hole is group that
concentrates on ONE
musical level..." [email protected] -November 11 1998-
