This split CD contains two extreme bands playing on very different levels: AGORAPHOBIC NOSEBLEED (how shall I ever remember that name?) are a Grindcore duo with vocals, guitar, bass and drum machine. Their songs are extremely fast, hard, brutal, noisy and short. But the result is nothing more than average. They have so far released lots of 7"s and split albums, and I really wonder if there should be people interested in that uncoordinated noise brew. I don't think that their music is original and Napalm Death will remain my favourite Grindcore band. CONVERGE, the other band on this split-CD, is much more up to my taste. Founded in the early nineties, they may already be considered as Hardcore veterans. But their music has meanwhile developed so much that I'd like to describe it as emotional progressive sounding Hardcore. All songs contain very complexe structures and lots of variations. If you like bands like Today Is The Day or Dillinger Escape Plan, you can't be wrong with Converge. Another positive aspect on this CD is the very esthetic cover artwork. But it's a pity that two bands of such different quality share the same CD. |
