Chinchilla already formed in 1988 and released their first CD in 1990. But they shortly after split up
for several years and made their comeback only in 1994. Two self-produced CDs followed in 1994 and 1997
until they gained a deal with Metal Blade. That's quite strange, because that label normally doesn't
sign melodic Power Metal bands. To my ears, it wasn't a good choice because Chinchilla are sounding too
much like a German band. The producer op the CD is Achim Köhler who has already worked with Primal
Fear and Chinchilla unfortunately go more or less into the same direciton. The ballads (Broken
Heart, Anymore) are terribly citchy, 'I Stole Your Love' belongs to the most primitive songs I have ever
heard and the title track (one of the few good tracks on this CD) is a Kiss clone. They were already touring
with acts like Krokus, Saxon, Running wild, Pink Cream 69 and Vanden Plas. If you like those bands, you
will surely like Chinchilla. If you don't, don't even give them the slightest chance.
