COALESCE
012: Revolution In Just Listening

Coalesce surely belong to the most extreme and technical Hardcore bands I have ever heard. Formed in 1994, Coalesce have put out lots of 7" EPs, split singles, but only one full length release. '0:12 Revolution In Just Listening' is again just a 24 minutes EP, both those 9 tracks are much more intense than what other bands play in one hour. Their music can be described as an exhausting exercise in brutality and one of the hardest, densest record in Hardcore history. The opener 'What Happens On The Road Always Comes Home' is a very confusing mixture of Hardcore vocals with Black Sabbath like guitar riffs. In general you can hear on this record very furious songs, packed into weird and complexe musical structures. Coalesce may be compared to bands like Today Is The Day, Neurosis or Converge who undertook so far similar musical paths. Apart from nine intense and noisy songs, Coalesce also offer an esthetic cover layout containing explanations about the lyrics which treaten themes like personal feelings and going his own way.
