Everyone knows that no nations knows better how to rock than the Swedish people do. Abba has already been a real sensation, but more than 20 years later, they brought us fabulous Rock acts like the Hellacopters, Gluecifer, the Chronics, the Royal Beat Conspiracy, the (International) Noise Conspiracy,... Now two of Sweden's hottest Rock'n'Roll acts have released together a split CD which is also available as a 10" vinyl. The first band is The Hellacopters, the second one is the Flaming Sideburns. Being under the influence of huge amounts of alcohol, the musicians of both bands had the idea of collaboration in 1998 and more than 2 years later, the output was created. The first three songs are by the Hellacopters who are covering two songs by Smokey Robinson and one by the Flaming Sideburns. But all three songs are sounding as raw and rough as they would be compositions by themselves. The next three songs are by the Flaming Sideburns, a band which is sounding more retro and soulish than the Hellacopters. They are presenting two new own songs and a cover version by the Hellacopters. The album got recorded in the 'Kick Out The Jams' studios in Helsinki and that may be the perfect description of the sound: White Trash Soul Garage Rock'n'Roll. Definitely what you could except from this album, but still sounding wild and refreshing. |
