Imagika are a San Francisco Bay Area Thrash Metal Band formed in 1994. After a self titled debut (1995) and 'Worship' (1998), they released in Autumn 2000 their third album called 'And So It Burns', a title which is fitting well to the cover artwork. Although they have started playing music in the mid 90ies, their roots are definitely in the late 80ies or early 90ies. The songs may be described as timeless Thrash Metal, played at an enormous speed. Especially the drummer is showing an incredible performance. Although each song is well instrumentated, the song writing is showing huge lacks of originality. The singer really knows how to shout and he often reminds me of Artillery, one of the best Thrash bands of all times. I prefer the more melodic songs from Imagika like 'Atrocity' which aren't just sounding like a copy of other bands. Even if this CD isn't so bad, there are better Thrash Metal records on this planet. And I admit that I prefered reading Clive Barker's 'Imagika' to listening to the band with the same name.
