Kitshickers are one of those many bands from Luxembourg who represent the new wave of
Luxembourguish alternative rock, and after the first promising demo tape about two years
ago, they finally released their first regular CD. If the CD could have been considered
as a somewhat immature punk rock item, Kitshickers have changed their musical direction
into something more refined, and only the first two songs ('World Of Noise' and 'Obey Me')
and the hidden bonus track remind of their past. Most of the songs start with undistorted
guitars and develop themselves after some moments into heavy guitar riffs. Gilles' vocals
are on the one hand very charismatic, but on the other hand, it couldn't do him any harm
to try to work on his accent, as the way as it is now it is pretty obvious that the
Kitshickers are not singing in their native language. Cover artwork (fetus connected to
a Playstation gamepad) and production give 'Mental Rape' a very professional look. All in
all, this debut CD is a nice surprise, as the Kitshickers sound homogenous all over the CD
but still don't have simple sing-a-long songs. The latter fact of course makes it hard
to find a song that you would really adore. Anyway, 'Mental Rape' is a very good album
and a big progression from their demo tape, so don't hesitate to get this CD. Contact: Kitshickers, 320 rue de Cessange, 1321 Luxembourg, Luxembourg. |
