'Sons Of Thunder' is the third full length album release by Labyrinth from Italy. Furthermore it is the logical consequence of the predecessor album 'Return To Heaven Denied' as they start where they ended there. This means that during ten songs, you may expect melodic Power Metal with slight progressive touches. Real or true Metal is celebrating a great comeback in Italy and I personally think that Labyrinth belong to the better bands of that genre. I'm definitely not the biggest fan of the so called True Metal movement, but Labyrinth present ten songs with a bombastic sound and a rich instrumentation, may be due to the fact that they consist of six musicians. Anothe explanation for the excelellent sound may be the cooperation with Neil Kernon who has already worked together with etablished Metal acts like Queensryche or Nevermore. Another advantage is that their singer Rob Tyrant (Roberto Tiranti) has a real good voice (and still his two balls). The use of the keyboards is excellent, too but maybe the music contains too many guitar solos for my taste. My favourite track is the last one called 'I Feel You' which is a cover version of an Italian pop hit of the eighties. It originally was called 'Ti Sento' and I think it was performed by Matia Bazar. Another slightly disturbing fact about Labyrinth are the English sounding artist names. When Cristiano Bertocco gets transformed into a Chris Breeze, I can't stop laughing. The other artist names aren't less funnier, but a part from this, Labyrinth may have a future in Metal and fans of bands like Iced Earth, Blind Guardian or Stratovarius may appreciate this CD.
