Even if everyone knows that Motörhead's Lemmy is the coolest Rock'n'Roller on Earth, it surely was a surprise that he released a classic Rock'n'Roll tribute album. Supported by former Stray Cats drummer Slim Jim Phantom and former Polecats guitar player Danny B. Harvey, Lemmy gives us a look back at what he was listening to when he still was a teenager. This album has nothing to do with Motörhead or even Hard Rock, it's a pure Rock'n'Roll or Rockabilly CD where Lemmy is covering songs by his former idols like Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley. To be honest, what those three musicians do is not totally up to my taste. Maybe that I'm too young to understand the music, I just think that the sound might have been a lot better, or was this done intentionally to create an authentic musical situation? My mother thinks that these songs are interpretated in a marvellous way and that Lemmy has never been as good before. As she knows the originals and those versions, I'll let her be the judge and finally, this has become a good review. |
