Lengsel is the Swedish translation of 'longing' or 'yearning' and especially that mood should reflect in the music of this band. The lyrics deal with very personal themes of the writer like frustration, hatred, anger or aggression, but also emptiness, loss, sorrow and depression and even positive emotions like hope and love. All these feelings influence the songwriting which the musicians call chaotic Progressive Black Metal. I think that Lengsel are more chaotic than progressive, even if the songs contain lots of variations, the songwriting and especially the sound aren't convincing at all. I think that there are hundreds of better Black Metal bands who really deserve a chance to get some attention. |
