Luxemburgian music

• Average
  3 boys and 3 girls playing a nice kind of Alternative Pop Rock music. They have just released a 6-track CD called 'Sea-Spotting'.
• Backline a.s.b.l.
  Backline is the club of Luxemburgian music. Visit their homepage to get infos about CD releases, news and concerts from national bands. Now it's also possible to download some songs.
• Boltrope
  Boltrope is the band formerly known as Skol. Now they are sounding much more professional than in the past. Their debut CD is of a surprisingly good sound quality.
• BSE
  Loud music with very few melodies, but very corrosive lyrics. Some songs are in Luxemburgian. After a split a year ago, they are finally back.
• Carefree
  A very young band playing a mixture of melodic Pop Punk, Ska and Emocore. Believe us that they are a well promising newcomer. And they have reached the semi-finals at Emergenza 2001.
• Chief Mart's
  Chief Mart's obviously are the kings of the Luxemburgian Psychedelic movement. Their first self-titled CD is a trip into great and unknown spheres. A second CD got released at the end of 2000 and isn't worse than the first one.
• Clean State
  Clean State are Luxemburg's best Neo Metal band. 'Brain Crusher' and 'Scraping The Barrel' are two killer CDs. On stage Clean State still rule more than on CD. But they are best at giving radio interviews with the Devils...
• D-Fact
  D-Fact are an excellent Hardcore band from the first generation after Def Dump. At the national Emergenza contest 2000, they reached the semi-final. Now they have just released a first CD. They can often be seen on stage with very convincing performances.
• Def Dump
  Def Dump gave the authentic definition of Hemp Core. CDs like 'Hemp Core' or 'Circle's Closing' belong to the best Luxemburgian musical outputs. Seeing them live on stage is always a wild and intense experience.
• Desdemonia
  Cool death metal band from this big country. They released their first CD in August '98 and are now touring Luxemburg and its neighbour countries. A second CD will be released in 2001.
• Desiderata
  Another great Hardcore band from Luxemburg. Their 6 track EP shows what they understand under extreme and violent music. Their lyrics are in English and German, but on CD, it's difficult to hear out a difference :-P
• Fluyd
  Rap'n'Roll! Melodic music and hard riffs. They even played with Faith No More. Their first CD 'Swarm' appeared in March '99. At Emergenza 2000, the audience voted them as winner, the jury didn't.
• Islek Records
  This is a real underground mini label from the North of Luxemburg. Have a look at their homepage and especially at their obscure bands.
• Last Millenium Suckers
  The Last Millenium Suckers are a very young Punk band with female vocals. You can download some songs on their homepage, but they have now also released a first CD.
• Lecitone
  The perfect music for more quiet moments. Until now, they are just two musicians, but their instrumental CD 'La révolution des marionnettes' is sounding marvellous.
• Lifeless
  This was Luxemburg's most technical (death) metal act. Lifeless aka Marc Kieffer released three excellent CDs called 'Lifeless', 'Forward To Suffering' and 'The Reconciliation'.
• Low Density Corporation
  The national shooting star of 2000. LDC play an excellent an relaxing kind of Triphop, they won the national Emergenza contest 2000 and obtained a fabulous third rank at the European final. They supported Hooverphonic on stage and are present on a Visions sampler.
• Luxus
  Cabaret Rock. Luxus are two people that made 2 CDs, with a lot of music and very funny sketches (you must be Luxemburger to understand their very particular humor!). Their last CD is called 'Megagagga' and it contains the coolest song ever recorded: Pipicacafuxi. There's even an RA of this song on their site.
• Nosepicker
  Nosepicker are another young a promising Punk band.
• Own Records
  The right address for Post Rock and Electronica. Own Records supports bands like Tiger Fernandez, Chief Mart's, Lecitone, SugRcane, Foggy Bottom,...
• Petrograd
  With their unique mixture of Punk, Pop and Emo, Petrograd are meanwhile the most famous Luxemburgian band, especially in foreign countries where they tour quite frequently. Their CDs 'Isabelle', 'Until Someone Fails' and 'a.b.c.' underline the band's qualities.
• Poshblokes
  Another new and young Punk'n'Ska band. Although the Poshblokes are still a very chaotic band, there is always lots of fun at their gigs. They have reached the semi-finals at Emergenza 2001.
• Pronoian Made
  A look at the darker side of Luxemburgish music.
• Salina
  Another great national newcomer. Although two of the band members come from the Punk and Hardcore movement, Salina play a sad kind of sad Emo Pop. Give their first self-titled EP at least one of your ears!
• Tiger Fernandez
  Probably Luxemburg's finest Noise Rock band featuring former members of Verbal Kint and d'Rotzbouwen. Their first self titled EP is excellent.
• Unfolding
  Unfolding, formerly knows as Zeus and Autumn Leaves, are a fine melodic Death Metal band from Luxemburg. Their 4 track CD-EP 'Cimmerian Lands' is just fantastic and all four musicians are nice guys as they like the Teletubbies.

International Bands

• Armistice
  'Bavarian's Most Headbanging Band' already released four records in only seven years. Their actual CD is called 'Hot On The Trail' and is containing new versions of the songs from the '99 EP and also a couple of new ones. Timeless good Thrash Metal.
• Dead Nugget's Dish
  Very strange band with a very strange sound. They come from the US and play a kind of crossover that will make your hair curl.
• Dissonant View
  Dissonant View are one of the finest pop punk bands from Austria, and their lyrics go fare beyond the typical clichés. They are also responsible for Gorilla, which is half mailorder, half zine.
• From Thy Ashes
  From Thy Ashes are one of Germany's most original Progressive Metal bands. In 1999, they were able to convince live on stage in Luxemburg. Now they have released a new CD-EP called 'Harbinger' which contains three brand new songs.
• Fünf Im Grünen Bett
  German pop rock band whose first full time album 'Die Bedeutung von Sex' dives us into a nostalgic revival of Eighties German pop sounds (Neue Deutsche Welle) somewhere between Ideal and Extrabreit.
• Lanfear
  This professional sounding German Prog metal band will soon release its second CD and it is supposed to be even better than their debut 'Towers'.
• Lewd Prank
  Lewd Prank belong to Germany's finest melodic Hardcore and Punk bands. They have already released 3 CDs and one 10" vinyl.
  
• Phantasma
  Very atmospheric death metal band from Slovakia. Their tape 'Jazz For Jesus' reminded me of late Pestilence, and that's a compliment.
• Radikalkur
  Radikalkur are one of Austria's coolest punk bands. Their homepage is really professional and you can even download some MP3-songs there.
• Das Scheit
  Das Scheit are a very interesting Avant Garde Metal band from Germany.
• Art Paul Schlosser
  Just see for yourself! Art Paul is a very special singer / songwriter. Either you love him, either you hate him, but there's surely no way inbetween...
• Sick Of Society
  German hardcore band who have recently released their CD 'Underground'. It's not perfect, it's punk rock attitude! That's the band's own definition, but I sure don't disagree.
• Sore Plexus
  Sore Plexus belong to Germany's finest Progressive Metal bands.
• Venus Hype Machine
  Venus Hype Machine from Trier are one of Germany's most promising newcomers. The band has won two music contests in 1998 and has now released its first CD-EP which contains four electronic pop rock songs. Read their interview in DisAgreement #20 or watch them live at Kulturfabrik on Friday, 21st May.
  
• Winterland
  Melodic metal band from Germany. After their full length tape 'Under The Flood', they released an even better CD called 'Blind'. On twelve songs, they present a perfect mixture of Hard Rock and Progressive Rock and also cover 'Everything Counts' by Depeche Mode.

Radio Stations

• Radio ARA
  Luxemburg's Number One Radio Station when it comes to independent music. This is the place where every kind of music is played, and (most important) where the contributors of the information of this site are doing their radio show 'Der Daiwel steet virun der Dir'.
• Radio 21
  A lot of great music, considering the fact that this is a public radio station. Listen to 'Rock a gogo' every working day from 8 to 10 pm, and you know what we mean.

Record Labels

• 45 Revolutions
  Small, but fine American punk label that still does vinyl 7 inch EPs. It's the same guy who's also the singer for Adolf & The Piss Artists. And they are nearly in the same neighbourhood as this great online zine you're just reading.
• Big Noise
  German independent label which consists of some other sub-labels like Dion Fortune (gothic) or Tumbleweed (indie noise). Quite interesting bands on that label.
• Diehard Music Worldwide
  Biggest independent label from Denmark. They are specialized on metal, hardcore and punk bands. Some of their signed bands are Konkhra, Taetre, Charon,...
• Hammer Müzik
  The biggest underground metal label from Turkey where people also listen to Black Metal, Gothic, Industrial, Grind,...
• Immortal Souls
  Immortal Souls Productions are an interesting label from Slovakia specialized in extreme and brutal Metal. They've just released CDs by Dementor, Jeel and Typhoid.
  
• Metal Blade US
  One of the most popular Metal labels around. They really have a lot of excellent bands signed at the moment.
• Metal Blade DE
  This is the german site of this cool Metal label.
• Metal Breath
  This is a very interesting independent Metal label from the Czech Republic, specialized in Gothic and Doom music.
• Morbid Records
  German independent metal label. They release a lot of real hard stuff. Their most successful bands at the moment are Krabathor and Obscenity.
• Noiseworks Records
  Noiseworks is Germany's most prolific independent music label, they have released about 200 records in only 10 years. 1999 will be their last year, they will dedicate the new millenium to jazz and avantgarde music.
• Plattenmeister
  One of the strangest German labels at all. Fischmob are their most popular band, but you may also check out more bizarre bands like IFA Wartburg or Hofuku Soshi.
• Relapse Records
  If you're looking for one extreme label, Relapse surely is the right address. Signed bands like Today Is The Day, Exhumed, Dillinger Escape Plan 9,... are just a few members of their camp of mayhem.
• Repulse Records
  Very busy Spanish underground metal label. They release tons of real heavy stuff, mostly absolutely brutal death metal...
• Strip Core
  Label that has releasing quite a lot of 2227 CDs by now.
• Tonhaus
  Another German independent label that's showing the world that German indie bands still are the finest. Lots of emotional, psychedelic stuff.
• True Music
  This German distributor is promotion Metal bands, especially by Massacre Records. It's a great supporter of the Radio ARA Devil show.
• Tug Records
  Tug Records brings out lots of German Punk music. Humppa Records is a sub label and concentrates on weird Finnish Humppa bands. Another sub label is called 9:PM and goes more into dance.
• Twah! Records
  German label with acoustic, Folk Rock and Lo-Fi bands.
• Der Verlag
  Strange label with even stranger bands. Without this kind of labels, the musical world would be less colourful.
• Viking Wreckchords
  A label to everyone's taste: They've got everything from Metal, Gothic, Rock to Glam.

Places to play concerts

• Kulturfabrik
  Legendary place in Luxembourg, formerly known as 'Schluechthaus' (which means Slaughterhouse; actually the place used to be just that). The Kulturfabrik reopened its gates on October 2nd 1998. Unfortunately Alternative music is just playing a minor role there because they prefer theatre and World music.
• Den Atelier
  Although den Atelier is a quite commercial etablishment, there are quite a lot of good bands who already played there (Machine Head, Motörhead, Biohazard,...)
• Ride'n'Roll
  This is a small club in Aubange (Belgium) where Punk, Hardcore, Ska and Metal bands like to play.
• Exil
  Finally this great place in Trier for Punk and Metal is online again.
• Hunderttausend.de
  This side gives you news about concerts in Luxemburg, Trier and the Saarland.
• Splitter Konzerte
  This site presents to you concerts which are in the Saarland. Most gigs are held at the 'Garage' in Saarbrücken.
• Culture Factor Y
