Mystic Circle belong to Germany's most popular Black Metal albums and have now released their fourth CD called 'The Great Beast'. They describe themselves their style as Dark Satanic Metal, but that's more or less the same than excellent bombastic Black Metal. Mystic Circle don't see Black Metal as a simple musical race where nothing is more important than speed and brutality. The opening song 'Hellish Maniacs' is of course a very brutal and rough crusher. The album is also containing real bombastic songs like the title track or even melodic and catchy ones like 'Lucifers Angel' which may also be downloaded on the band's homepage. Great choruses, lots of keyboards and additional female vocals are other trademarks of Mystic Circle. They surely haven't re-invented Black Metal music, but 'The Great Beast' is nevertheless played on a very high standard, much above average. |
