No Retreat , was formed in 1994. They often played live and released some demos, but because of several line up changes, people had to wait until November 1999 to hear their first CD called 'Rise Of The Underdog'. No Retreat play very brutal music, to be more precisely, let's call it Hardcore with a Metal edge. Idols of the band are more known acts like Hatebreed or All Out War. They also were able to find a famous producer, namely Pro Pain's Eric Klinger. Personally I wonder who nowadays is needing a band like No Retreat. There's not a single note on this CD which you haven't heard years ago. Another disturbing fact is that the CD even doesn't last more than half an hour, but it is sold at a full price. Although they know how to play Hardcore, I prefer the pioneers of that music and not a clone of the third generation. The only more diverse song is B.F.L. (Brothers For Life) where Hardcore is meeting HipHop, but that again is no musical revolution. |
