Wow, what Nyctophobic from Germany are playing on their second album called 'Insects' is just overwhelming. Their music is ultrabrutal and very close to Death Metal, Crust and Grind Core. There are lots of bands playing that kind of music, but Nyctophobic's song writing is far more complexe. Very often there are strong parallels to the most brutal songs of VoiVod, a band which belongs to the pioneers of extreme music. Especially vocals and guitars are influenced by that great Canadian band. Nyctophobic's music is often cruel and mercifless, but the whole CD is full of diversity and you even find emo like tracks as 'Co(g)-Existence, which can also be found as an electronic remix. This CD really is a thrilling listening experience, it's just a pity that there is a blank of 22 minutes before you can listen to an uncredited version of Black Sabbath's 'Paranoid'. |
