After reviewing tons of death metal CDs, I first had to clean my ears when I first listened to 'O Sete', this wonderful CD by the Brazilian prog duet Projeto Caleidoscópio. I have listened to a lot of prog bands in my life, and normally I don't like neo prog bands when they take their inspirations too much from the 70ies cult bands, but somehow this all works fine with PC. Arthur Nogueira is responsible for most of the instruments, although there are a lot of guest musicians playing all kinds of instruments (violins, clarinet, flutes). It's above all Analu Paredes' angelic voice that makes this CD an absolute treat. Not only reminds her voice of Renaissance, even their singer Annie Haslam has written a small paragraph for the info sheet of the CD. Another fact that distinguishes PC from most bands today is that they sing in Portuguese, which really sounds tender, mangnificent and enchanting in one. My favourite songs on the album are 'Singelo Adeus' and 'Imenso Abismo' that carry the spirit of 70ies hippie soft prog at its very best... the flutes on the former sound like David Jackson (ex-VdGG) on one of his best days. It only hurts a tiny bit that after short 34 minutes, the album already takes an end, but the quality of 'O Sete' (which means 'The Seven') is undisputable. I have no choice but to give the highest rating to this prog jewel.
