Oh dear, what have we done to deserve this. 'Sacred Ground', the third CD by US True Metal band Reign Of Terror belongs to the most annoying Metal CDs I've heard in the last months. The CD has unfortunately a scratch and so, the ninth song is unlistenable. To be honest, all songs are. The opener 'Save Me' shows already that this is a band about a guitar hereo who's able to play even classical tunes on his instrument. But I wonder how big his knowledge about classical music is. Track 4 is called 'Paginini's Purgatory'. But wasn't the name of the famous composer Paganini? Even if the guitarist is an excellent musician, Reign Of Terror is nothing else but a huge collection of clichés. Dio, Pretty Maids and especially US Mainstream Rock from the USA are obvious influences of Reign Of Terror. Worst of all, I wonder why a band can be called 'Reign Of Terror' and the CD isn't very heavy at all. Maybe the music can be described as Mainstream Rock with slight distortion, but I prefer to classify it as superficial True Metal with classical elements. The semi-ballad 'When Will We Know?' is due to the high vocals a severe attack to your ears. The only acceptable song is a cover version of Rainbow's 'Kill The King', but this doesn't make the album much brighter anyway. Let's soon forget about 'Sacred Ground'!
