ROYAL BEAT CONSPIRACY
Gala Galore

Wow, Royal Beat Conspiracy is the best music I've ever heard from Sweden. The Swedish people make already a justified big hype about this band as their first 7" and 10" were real smashers. I haven't heard both outputs, but I can't believe that they were better than the first CD 'Gala Galore'. The opener 'She's A Pretty Thing' combines cool Rock grooves with oriental sounds and you're eager to know how the music on this CD will continue. Big surprise, the next song 'The Chameleon's Changing Color' sounds Mexican like, a real cool song. But that's not all about The Royal Beat Conspiracy's huge musical repertoire. You find real fast Rock songs like 'Tonight', pure soul like 'Satan's Radio' or 'Meet Me In The Morning' which could be a Led Zeppelin folky ballad. 'The Flame Of Love' reminds me of the Blues Brothers, 'Disco Boy', their first single edit, goes again into another Direction. The music of the Royal Beat Conspiracy is as colourful as an Easter egg and it contains as many surprises and the chocolate eggs. Now they don't seem to have a musical line, but that isn't right. Two things that all songs have in common is a certain nostalgic or retro touch and the support by the Royal Horns, a well known European horn band. To me, this is the best album of the year 2000.
