Although Ryker's (without 'The', please) are the most famous hardcore band from Germany, I just know a videoclip by them that I once saw on Viva-TV. I have to admit that their music is really heavy as shit and kicks thousand times more ass than most of US designer HC bands. After their last CD, which was released on a major label, they have changed back into the semi-independent parts of the industry. Their new label is Century Media who mostly release metal stuff, and their producder is Andy Classen (ex-Holy Moses), so it's no surprise that Ryker's sound like a symbiosis between hardcore and thrash metal. I like the mix, because Kid D's angry vocals give the music a brutal attitude you only rarely find with metal bands. Besides 15 own tunes, there are 3 cover-versions on the very long CD (most HC-CDs are only 30 minutes short): 'Bombs Of Death' (Hirax), 'When Tigers Fight' (Alone In The Crowd) and the soccer hymn 'You'll Never Walk Alone' (Gerry And The Pacemakers). What is there more to say? Well, if you like brutal hardcore metal sounds, get this CD, because it's value for money (still, CDs are too expensive, but that's a different topic...). |
