Another CD from the obscure label Islek from Northern Luxemburg. So far I've known their projects
'Stormthrone Of Dripping Blood' and 'Hell' which both were quite Black Metal like. Sapientia surely
belongs to the dark side of life, too, but it has a lot of differences compared to the bands mentioned
before. Sapientia is a solo project by Islek member Harmageddon and you just hear keyboards, lots
of effects and sometimes some spoken words. The music was written in winter 98/99 and you can hear
this easily out. While listening to the quite long, most of the time instrumental songs, you begin
to shudder and think that it's getting colder around you. Or do you just have that impression because
you often hear the wind blow on the CD? The music may be described as dark, misty, cosmic, misantropic
and even ambient. 9 of the 11 titles have a latin name, and to many people, this language may be as
mysterious as the music. As the sound is this time really excellent, listening to the CD in a whole
isn't a problem. The 10 first tracks are rather quiet and calm, the the outro 'Universi Renovatio' is
a chaotic violation of the Karmina Burana (I hope I spelled it right). The only negative aspect on
this CD are the very disturbing flute noises.
This CD is available for 250 LUF, 13 DEM or 9 USD (everything included) under the following address: Islek Records, c/o Fabien Cordier, 20 Réimerwee, L-9681 ROULLINGEN, Luxemburg |
