12 songs / 30 minutes

I remember that the second album by Sick Of Society (Underground - 1998) couldn't convince
neither me nore my brother Pascal. When I received their third CD called 'Sportsmän Sound',
my expectations weren't too high. But already listening to the first notes was quite a surprise
to me. Sick Of Society present
themselves from a much more diversified side than ever before. Globally they may still be seen
as a rough Metal and Hardcore Crossover band, but the songwriting has improved much compared
to the predecessor. 'Deadlife' is for instance a quite groovy number and sounds a bit like
Pantera at Cowboys From Hell times. The short one minute smasher 'Jesus, God & I' demonstrates
that some of S.O.S.'s roots can be found in Punk music. They even try one slow (7 Nights, Zero
Days & Little Surprises', but that's definitely not the band's strongest point. I prefer their
fast, but melodic songs like 'Believe' or 'Groovin'. The album also contains 8 minutes of
nothing, so the effective playing time is just about 22 minutes. The average song last less
than 2 minutes and so, they even don't have time to become boring. I can't tell you anything about the selling price of the CD, but the band can be contacted under the following address: Sick Of Society, c/o Oliver Kast, Rémerstr. 26, D-89269 VÖHRINGEN (Germany) |
