Soul Doctor is the debut CD by former musicians of Fair Warning (singer tommy Heart) and Bonfire.
Nevertheless, the music has nothing to do with melodic or even soft Metal, but it's sounding like
a good portion of Australian Rock'n'Roll. My favourite track is the opener and title track which
is an impressing and powerful Rock tune. Most songs on the CD go more or less into the same direction,
presenting straight Hard Rock which has its origins in the 80ies. AC/DC is surely the main influence
of Soul Doctor, but some songs are even more retro and are showing parallels to Led Zeppelin. The vocals
are quite rough which is never annoying. Unfortunately the CD is also containing some ballads, and
this is really not Soul Doctor's strongest point. Songs like 'Before The Night Is Over' or 'You're All
That I Want' would be suitable for a scout camp, but aren't exciting at all. Those are also the two
longest tracks on the CD. In general, Soul Doctor know how to rock. Their music is just too retro for
my ears nowadays.
