9 songs / 52 minutes

Stigmatheïst from the Netherlands were founded in early 1994 and started as a typical
Death / Black Metal band. After a year of noise, a keyboarder joined the band which made
their sound more melodic and also more atmospheric. After having released an MCD in 1996,
'It All Ends Today' is the first full-length CD by the sextett from Holland. It contains
9 songs which all last between 4 and 8 minutes. I especially like the combination of hard
and aggressive sounds with dominating keyboards. Even if this instrument is used on every
songs, Stigmatheïst have nothing in common with a Doom or Gothic band. Although the
music isn't played terribly fast, the vocals are too aggressive and rough for that style.
Stigmatheïst's sound may be described as melodic and aggressve Dark Black Metal. Fans of bands like
Dimmu Borgir or Cradle Of Filth may surely appreciate what Stigmatheïst are playing, but they
are definitely more than just another Black Metal band. I have already been listening several
times to their CD and it still doesn't annoy me. One of the strongest points on this CD is
the solid production which makes all nine songs quite vital.
