Unfolding hasn't been a name to me in the Luxemburgish
Metal scene. But they are no newcomers and have existed since 1995 under the names Zeus and
Autumn Leaves. As there have been other bands with the same name, it got changed into Unfolding
in 1998. Their first four-track-CD which got recorded in the middle of 1999 is definitely one
of the best outputs in the Luxemburgish Metal scene. The opener 'Enshroud The Light' is a
hard, but melodic song with Death Metal vocals. So it is quite surprising that the next one
'Away' begins with acoustic guitars. It's definitely the most quiet song on the CD, but it
gets of course harder. Very excellent is here the integration of female vocals by Annabelle
Saffran (ex-Purple Onion). The rough male vocals and the acoustic guitar match very well
together. 'Unfolding' is the shortest song (4') where fast and acoustic parts go perfectly one
into the other. The last song 'Needs Grown Apace' is definitely the most extreme and the fastest
and especially the lyrics and guitars go here a bit into Black Metal.
In general, one has to underline and praise the band's professional attitude. This is not only
one of the best produced albums ever in Luxemburg, but all musicians are already little virtuosoes
on their instruments. The black and white digi-pack cover also looks very cute. So don't hesitate
any more and buy this smash record for only 300 LUF!!!
