Wolfswinter are a German New School Black Metal band formed in early 1997. So far they've
released two CDs in the DIY-way. Having a closer look at the band history, the main problem
is that there were lots of line-up changes. Even now, the band only consists of a drummer,
a bass player and a guitar player. But Wolfswinter get supported by a lead guitar player
and by a former singer of Fangorn and Namrok. Nevertheless, the result doesn't sound too bad.
Wolfswinter's sound won't revolutionize the Black Metal movement, but I don't suppose that
this is the band's intention. High, but rough screaming vocals (in German language), fast high
guitars and an even faster drumplay are a solid structure for Black Metal music. Sometimes,
it is even possible to understand the lyrics, as it is the case on the epic title track,
definitely near 'Schattenwelt' the highlight of this EP. Unfortunately the production isn't
quite clear, but you can hear out that Wolfswinter have already achieved a solid basic.
I hope for them that they will find soon a permanent line-up and then it will be possible
to step further, because the necessary potential may be already present.
