Know These Things (About Me)

My name is Kaetrena (Kay-tree-nah), but I will answer to Trena because it gives off a better vibe. I am originally from South Carolina, but now I reside in a suburb of Atlanta. I have a lot of interests, so listen up...here are some of my favorite

Books
  • Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
  • Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
  • The Mistress of Spices by Chitra Divarakuni
  • What Looks Like Crazy On An Ordinary Day by Pearl Cleage

Some of my other favorite writers are Nikki Giovanni, Emily Dickinson, April Sinclair, and W.B. Yeats.

Telly Shows

  • Will and Grace- A great comedy that explores the ulimate platonic relationship. Will and Grace could be the world's greatest lovers, and only one thing stops them-Will's gay. This quirk, along with Will's flamboyant gay pal (just)Jack and Grace's diva laz-e-holic assistant, Karen, makes for a plethora of extremely hilarious episodes...repeats airing this summer on NBC(Tuesday@9:00pm).
  • Frasier- Dr. Frasier Crane has a lot more to deal with besides the six month rainy season in Seattle. Roz, Daphne, Niles, and all innocently make the radio psychologist's life a comedic purgatory. Are you smart enough to get the punch lines??(Thursdays on NBC@8:30pm)
  • Seventh Heaven- The best family show on tv that you are not watching. Hey, it's kinda cheesy, but the oldest son is so handsome and sincere...heck, that makes it worth watchin' right there! (Mondays on WB@8:00pm)

Movies
  • Love Jones- Starring Nia Long and Larenz Tate. A Nubian twist on a classic story about love in the 90's...and the soundtrack is bangin', too (can you say "Mellosmoothe"?)!
  • Titanic-Starring Kate Winslet and Leo DiCaprio. "Jack!" "Rooose!". We all know how it ends, but we went to see it ANYWAY..."Swim, Rose!"

Music
  • Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite, MTV Unplugged EP, and Embrya CDs can be aural backgrounds for many a romantic (or mellow) evening. This SexySpiritual brother has the voice of velvet and the looks of a god. He is the 90's answer to Marvin Gaye...if you agree, here is a little something for you to muse over...

  • Les Nubians' debut CD Princesses Nubiennes will be the sleeper R&B hit of the summer. Although the collection is almost entirely sung in French, the Faussart sisters hit beats so tight, you forget you don't know the language. Never fear, mon peuple..les mots englais son ici .

I'm sure you're pretty trustworthy, but errum...you can't borrow my music. Get your own.
