Bing & Boing
Bing & Boing
Listening
* Have the students close their eyes while you make a pattern. Get them to make the noise of the next item in the pattern.
* Use different instruments to make a pattern (e.g. drum, whistle, drum, whistle.....) and have the students copy them to extend the pattern.
.
Mathematics
* There are many commercial products around that are great for creating patterns with colours, shapes or size. I try to keep to one element (e.g. colour only) and a pattern of only 2 or 3 steps, however you may like to make a more complicated pattern.
* If you don't have commercial products to use, everyday items work just as well, if not better. Toy cars, coloured pegs or beads, etc. are usually readily available.
Fine Motor
* Use beads (or coloured pasta) to thread a pattern on to a chord or string.
* Make some stamps out of potatoes or sponges and create a masterpiece using patterns of shape or colour.
Gross Motor
* Line Dancing - you can make a short pattern of simple moves, e.g. jump forward, clap, jump back, clap.
* Go over an obstacle course a few times.
