Make-a-Movie

Language

In Language, the ability to sequence the events of a story is an indication of a level of comprehension.

* Use pictures of events of the story and have students put them in order, retelling the story. Captions can be written underneath.

* Cut up comic strips and have students glue them in the correct order.

Mathematics

In Mathematics, sequencing can help students understand the concept of time and patterns.

* Create a pictogram chart for the daily/weekly routine. Have students place the pictures in order before assembling, or cut up and have them place it order.

* Match times of the day to pictures of the daily routine, or vice versa.

* The above ideas can be used with the seasons of the year. This is a bit difficult in my part of the world, where we have mild Winters, almost no Spring or Autumn, and a long Summer, however we use local events and festivals to assist.
