NZChicks Medical Page

My life has been full of medical problems right from the word go. I have reoccurring glandular fever that likes to raise its head every so often. That began when I was 13 years old and I still have problems. I believe it has grown to become M.E. (Tapanui Flu). Both my parents have this. It is like having a constant flu and it affects people many different ways.

In 1997 I developed a knee problem on my right side. Speicalists thought it was a split menicus (the cartiledge supporting the knee cap) but discovered a growth wrapped around my knee ligament when they operated. It wasn't cancerous but it really scared me as I was only 18 years old at the time.

In 1998 my back started playing up. I woke up one morning in August with a bit of pain that increasingly became worse until I was in tears. That was over a year ago and I still have it. Tests were done, x-rays taken, MRI scans and CT scans done, when a fracture was discovered. No wonder I was sore! Degeneration of my spine was found and arthritis was put forward by a doctor. Here I was at 19 years old with a broken back and arthritis (angolosing spondylitis). Great!

A big surprise came when I had a CT scan done in September and everything had healed itself. The doctor didn't know what was going on and they still don't. A lot of prayer helped I believe!

It is now October 1999 and I am dealing with migranes. These have been put down to stress so I am on more medication which is wonderful, NOT! I don't see any evidence of stress but sometimes the body tries to absorb it and it does need an outlet and these migranes are it. I'm having a CT scan early next year for them just to make sure is hiding itself!

Well that's my medical history so far.
