BAND HISTORY
Down Cycle was originally formed in the summer of 1996 in Dallas, Texas under the name NO2. The punk band included the line-up of Ben Hoke on vocals, Chris Dietz on guitar, Travis Westmoreland on drums, and Nathan Anderson on bass guitar. After only one show, NO2 kicked Anderson out of the band, and after many member changes, the band renamed themselves Flatline with Ben Hoke on bass and vocals, Chris Dietz on guitar, and Travis Westmoreland on drums.
They had a few gigs in the summer of 1997 and were doing great as a band until Ben Hoke had to move to Houston, Texas. The band didn't know what to do because they had a really important gig coming up with no singer and no bassist... and in comes Ryan Foster.
Foster was a good friend of Anderson's, and had known Westmoreland and Dietz vaguely from seeing a couple of their gigs. Foster played a few gigs as lead singer and they played without a bass. Then, a couple of months later, in the Fall of 1997, they got a new lead singer, Ryan Parker, and Foster moved to bass.
Their popularity in Dallas soared until musical differences broke the band up in the summer of 1998. Down Cycle was formed weeks later, with the current line- up of Ryan Foster as vocals and bass, Chris Dietz on guitar, and Travis Westmoreland on drums.
