BAND HISTORY

The origins of Rip Alexander start October 23, 1983, when some friends and I gathered 'round the swing set in the yard and recorded our version of the Halloween standard, "Old Woman." Three years later, at the age of 11, I completed my first tape titled "Jams," mostly just some friends and myself singing along to records and making strange noises. We did a parody of Alice Cooper's "Enough's Enough" called "Seen Nuff" which was full of juvenile potty talk, but most hilarious. In 1988 I released the sci-fi album "War on the Bermuda Triangle" which I credited to Vincent Apollo and the Stardiggers. A few more Vincent Apollo projects followed, including a great teaming with Mean-Gene Eugene for 1989's "Say It All!"
The Glazzed Rhattz was formed in August 1989. I did all of the music and vocals but credited it to five separate musicians. The Glazzed Rhattz recorded fifteen albums between August 1989 and October 1991, finally building a very localised cult following near the end.
With the acquisition of a four track recorder, I began writing and recording under the name Rip Alexander at the age of 16. The first album, "The Perfect Outcast" was very popular with everyone who heard it, although it now stands as a shabby debut. It wasn't until the fourth release, "The Scattered Adventures of the Lovely and Somewhat Mysterious Ventilation Sister (A Concept of Disaster in 13 Fits)" that I was finally happy with what I was doing and had built my own sound that I would continue to develop over time.
A collaboration with Ann Graves in summer 1994 resulted in "Plum Virago", recorded under the name Slut Muffin. I lent lead vocals to only two tracks, one of which being a cover of "Black Juju."
Since then, I've released some great work such as "Garbage", "Capitol Burlesque", and "DeMilo's Garage", and some really horrible work such as "Tough Crowd", "Counting Vinni's Dinosaurs" and the 1996 self-titled release. The most recent release, "Revelations" (August 1998) was happily supported with high praise from many devoted fans.
