Marina Kamen is the dance-diva from MRK Records. Although based in New York City, MRK records brings you the dance sound that usually comes from Europe. Marina is a classically trained vocalist with a wonderful voice. Her debut on MRK records was in 1996 with the song Ti Amo, a song from Giancarlo Bigazzi & Umberto Tozzi. The second single was Do You Wanna Dance, with rap from Kraze, who is known for his big hit The Party from the eighties. After that the hits kept coming! If you want to know more about Marina, see more pictures, hear the music, check out the official Marina site 30 December 1998 I received a copy of the Marina feat. Hazell Dean with Sisters are doin' it for themselves. The original version was done by Aretha Franklin and Annie Lennox, Marina gives it a more 'housy' touch. The maxi contains 8 different versions: Sisters Radio Mix - 140BPM (5:00) Roc & Presta Radio Mix - 130BPM (4:18) PMS Radio Mix - 140BPM (4:00) Bounce Factory Radio Mix - 133BPM (3:58) Sisters Extended Mix - 140BPM (7:23) Roc & Presta Ext. Mix - 130BPM (6:52) PMS Extended Mix - 140BPM (8:00) Bounce Factory Ext. Mix - 133BPM (10:27) You can hear the track here: Sisters Radio Mix Sisters Roc & Presta Mix Sisters PMS Mix Sisters Bounce Factory Mix 18 December 1998 Watch out for 'Sisters are Doin' It for Themselves' with MARINA and Hazell Dean! Coming soon! Note: watch the news from 8 July 1997 below. There I mention Hazell Dean. A coincidence? 16 December 1998 I received a copy of the Marina song: Um-Lotty-Da. Again an eurodance masterpiece. Remember Masterboys I Got To Give It Up? If you liked that song, you will love this Marina track! The maxi contains 9 (!!) versions of the song. So you can hear the song not only eurodance style, but you can hear the also in a house style, some trance, some R'n'B and more. But my favourites are the eurodance versions. Radio Mix Silky Smooth Vanilla Mix Rios-Mayfield Mix MARINA vs Trujillo Mix Mechanized Mix LYRICS: There's a place that I know, Where I wanna go, Where we'll all have a good time tonight, Let me take you there, 'Cause I wanna share, That same ole um-lotty-da tonight Let me try to sing, Um-lotty-dotty hey, um-lotty-dotty, Come on with me tonight, Let me take you there, 'Cause I wanna share, That same ole um-lotty-da tonight, Let me hear you sing Um-lotty-dotty hey, Um-lotty-dotty Um-lotty-da tonight, Um-lotty-dotty, Um-lotty-dotty, Um-lotty-da, tonight So come on with me tonight, 'Cause I know what you'd really like, Let me take you there, 'Cause I wanna share, That same ole um-lotty-da tonight Um-lotty-dotty hey, Um-lotty-dotty, Um-lotty-da tonight, Um-lotty-dotty, Um-lotty-dotty, Um-lotty-da, tonight 17 March 1998 I just got the new release from Marina, The Dream Lover EP and without any doubt this is the best offering so far. There are nine tracks on this EP: Dream Lover in five mixes, the outstanding track Foolish Games in two mixes and the great Um-Lotty-Da in two mixes. Dream Lover is the main track, with the Radio Mix, the Extended Club Mix, the Dream Velvet Mix, a Galaxy Love Mix and Brutal's Groovin Vocal Mix. I really like the Extended Club mix, where I get a Spanish feeling. It reminds me a bit of the Victor Caldrone Clubmix from Madonna's Frozen. If you liked that mix, you will love this track from Marina! But the other versions also are great. This is one of the rare CDs where all versions are great to hear. Usually on a CD there is at least one mix I don't like, here there isn't a single mix I do not like! Foolish Games was originally done by Jewel, but Marina did an outstanding job making a better version. This track is my favourite from the Dream Lover EP. Great synths, a really swinging beat, Marina's great voice and the violin in this track really make this track a masterpiece! Um-Lotty-Da is a track with a lot of energy and a melody which will stay in your mind forever once you've heard it. With 142 BPM the fastest track on this EP. For real audio samples, check out the Marina site at MRK Records. 8 July 1997 Received from MRK-records: Marina feat. Kraze - Do Ya Wanna Dance 1. Do Ya Wanna Dance - Retro Disco Radio (4:01) *** 2. Do Ya Wanna Dance - Eurobeat Radio (4:44) **** 3. Do Ya Wanna Dance - Tribal Club Anthem (6:06) ** 4. Do Ya Wanna Dance - House Mix (4:37) *** 5. Do Ya Wanna Dance - Retro Disco Extended (6:55) *** 6. Do Ya Wanna Dance - Eurobeat Extended (6:39) **** This is the second release from MRK Records, followup to the Ti Amo single. In a time where progressive dance is dominating the dancefloors Marina is bringing back those great end-eighties, beginning-nineties, where we had the Stock, Aitken and Waterman sound. Remember I Should Be So Lucky from Kylie Minogue or Maybe from Hazell Dean? Listen to the second and sixth mix of this CD-maxi and you will hear the same great Euro/HiNRG-sound. If you like more the seventies, then listen to track one and five, and you will discover the disco music from those years again. It is nice to see that the euro and disco sound is still alive! More info and sound samples are available at MRK Records. 18 Mai 1997 A review for Flambé featuring Marina - Ti Amo 1. Ti Amo - Radio Mix (4:10) 2. Ti Amo - Ballad (4:39) 3. Ti Amo - Euromix (7:47) 4. Ti Amo - House Anthem (8:38) Giancarlo Bigazzi & Umberto Tozzi wrote this song years ago, Laura Branigan recorded it and now the song is back in a Eurodance style. It has a very catchy sound, a bit like the Masterboy sound on Feel The Heat Of The Night. For samples in different formats check out the website for MRK Records. Get Sponsored |
