ANDY SNEDDON Bass Guitarist/Vocals
Andy Sneddon, was born in Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, and was educated at Kilbirnie Central School
During the sixties Andy played numerous gigs all over Scotland, with The Hi-Fi Combo. After ten years of playing the dance halls of Ayrshire, Andy decided it was time to move on and traveled south to join the throngs of other hopefuls all searching for fame in London, where the music scene was happening. But Andy was lucky; his considerable prowess enabled him to find work with various bands where he perfected his bass guitar musicianship, culminating in him playing with legendary artistes such as Snowy White
Andy's first significant success came when he joined East Of Eden who had a major hit with Jig A Jig, which reached No. 7 in the pop charts. They appeared on Britain's premiere music program. Top Of The Pops, and toured Europe. East Of Eden then went on to record an album which sold well throughout the UK.
Two years later, Andy was privileged to be invited to join Gerry And The Pacemakers with whom he traveled extensively across Europe and Great Britain. After touring for a grueling though exhilarating three year stint, Andy took well-deserved break to recharge his batteries. However, it wasn't long before the urge to play gripped him again and he found himself back on the band circuit. It was at this time that he met Johnny Curtiss (now Roy Orbison of 'Rocking On Heaven's Door')... On realizing that they had much in common, they decided to pool their talents to form Blue Bayou so that Johnny Curtiss could perform as Roy Orbison. Not surprisingly, then-audiences were blown away' by their sound. And under the guise of Blue Bayou, they played all the major concert halls in the South of England, winning acclaim at every venue.
Over the prevailing years, Andy and Johnny have developed a rock-solid alliance. And after a chance meeting with Brian Hallard, (now the producer of 'Rockin On Heaven's Door') they discussed the feasibility of expanding the tribute show theme to include Elvis, Buddy Holly and Eddie Cochran. The paramount and sole objective was to find artistes who were unrivalled exponents of these stars, so that the ultimate sound-alike show could be created. Happily, the right people were out there and 'Rocking On Heaven's Door' became the major success story it is today...
