The Moon - March 29, 2001

Jupiter and Saturn (composite photo) through the LX90.

Aug 1, 2001

Below: Another lunar image with the LX90 -- The Straight Wall (Rupes Recta), a slip fault at the edge of Mare Nubium.

Craters: A-Ptolemaeus, B-Alphonsus, C-Arzachel. D-Rupes Recta

Below: My pride and joy -- the Meade LX90.

Below: One of the first lunar images made through my Meade LX90 telescope. Shown are the Lunar Apennines at the southeastern rim of the great Imbrium Impact Basin.

Right: Jupiter seen through my Unitron 4 inch refractor. Photographed with Sony Mavica digital camera, October, 1999.

Below: Two photos of the moon taken on the same evening as the picture of Jupiter. If you were "socked-in" and missed the January lunar eclipse, here are some pictures.

By the way... If you want to understand why the moon was red during the recent eclipse, check out the following link, Red Moon Rising.

Mars Global Surveyor Photographs Strange Surface Phenomenon

These curious images were taken by the Mars Global Surveyor. What do the rib-like structures represent? It's anyone's guess! Possibly the fossilized remains of a mile-long worm. So, what does a mile-long worm eat? Anything it wants, I guess! You may view the original NASA image at the following link: (warning -- it's a 10 Mbyte file.)
