Devastated Homeland

If today "religious leaders" are trampling the country with their continued fighting
If hundred of impoverished homes are being turned into ruins
If a mother wails over the bloodied corpse of her son
Every man and women curse the "leaders".

Our homeland has been devastated in the war of these religious ignoramuses.

If yesterday the Khalqis sold their honour to the Russians
These godless "religious warriors" have murdered countless more.
Orphaned children weep in memory of their fathers
This I tell you, O Afghan nation:

Such is the "leadership" of the Afghan nation, so scattered, so dispersed!

Our homeland has been trapped in the flaming fundamentalist inferno
Our people are swimming in the innocent blood of the slaughtered.
Like the drowned they are desperately crying "Help!" to anyone who can hear
But see these heartless savages chuckle at our plight!

The day will come when the people will lift the heads of these "leaders" off their shoulders

My homeland! I wish you prosperous and immune from all earthly evils
You set yourself free of the Russians but fell into the clutches of this one
The blossoming skirts of your mountains give rise to furious rivers
[I wish] your patriotic youth to be one clenched fist

Down with your mean enemy! I shall protect you against the foe,
[You see?] Such is the "leadership of the Afghan nation, so scattered, so dispersed!
Our homeland has been devastated in the war of these religious ignoramuses.
