Backstreet Boys Black & Blue Tour – Wednesday January 24th, 2001 in Ft. Lauderdale

My Concert Pictures

First off, I know I’m totally insane. I planned this trip from Toronto to Ft. Lauderdale all in a matter of 2 hours on Monday and was on the plane less than 48 hours later. Something inside me kept telling me I had to be there, so I went. And let me tell you, it was definitely worth it! I love the show! Now the “Into The Millennium” show is very special to me since I saw that show 7 times and I loved that show. But I think I like this show better. It’s great to have the guys on the end stage again. It definitely makes a difference with the choreography. And let me tell you, they definitely work it! Ok, let’s get onto the details.

The Opening

If you’re not prepared for the beginning of the show, let me assure you that it will startle you. When the lights go down, the large eye shaped monitor on the stage starts to show meteorites heading to earth. Loud fireworks go off on stage and the dancers run around the stage to avoid getting hit.

Everyone

Then dry ice starts to rise from the stage and the boys are lifted up from below the stage and lifted upon risers in the shape of a triangle. They are then lowered and they start singing Everyone. They’re wearing long black jackets with a blue lining, leather pants and black or blue studded shirts.

Larger Than Life

Not much is different for this song. They do perform the dance routine from the Larger Than Life video though. So it’s cool to see that live! At this point they have taken off the long black coats and are just wearing the black leather pants and the black or blue studded sleeveless shirts.

Shining Star

Now I was really impressed with this song! I believe it starts with Howie and AJ dancing with one of the female dancers on either side of the stage. Then I remember Nick doing the same on a set of stairs. The choreography for this song is pretty good! I definitely like this song more after seeing it live.

All the others go change while Kevin talks to the audience

What Makes You Different, Makes You Beautiful

I had tears in my eyes when they sang this song! It has to be my favorite song on the whole album and it sounds incredible live! They appear from under the stage, sit on stools and are wearing white suits.

Yes I Will

Same white suits. For this song they do a little dance routine with canes. I thought it was cute J

More Than That

If I remember correctly, they are still wearing the same white suits and they are standing on a bridge type thing that is above the band. Ballerinas dance on the main part of the stage.

I Want It That Way

I don’t remember much about this song except that they show clips from the making of the video on the large screen. I think I watched that more.

Not For Me

They are now wearing black pants, black tank tops and black and orange shirts over the tank tops. I do remember there being wind during one part of this song and they rip a sleeve off of their black and orange tops. Can never see too much of their arms!

Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely

Black pants and black tank tops. They basically just move from the ramps to the middle of the stage as a group.

Funny Dressing Room Skit

Now I found this part of the show to be hilarious! A trunk is brought out onto the stage and AJ asks the crowd if we think they should change, then he asks if they should change on stage, then he asks if we’d like to go into the dressing room with them. They all climb into the trunk one by one and Kevin kids around by locking the trunk and kidding about doing the rest of the show solo J Then Kevin climbs in and they show a pre-taped skit of the boys in the dressing room. It’s really funny. Brian gets AJ with silly string, Kevin can’t find his boot, they’re fussing over they’re hair, Howie tells Nick about some girl on the right hand side of the stage with long brown hair and how hot she is. It’s really funny.

I’ll Never Break Your Heart / I Promise You / How Did I Fall In Love With You

This is when they appear on a smaller circular stage on the other side of the venue. Brian makes some comment about it being reminiscent of the stage during the “Into The Millennium Tour”. At this point a large bridge is lowered from the ceiling connecting the smaller stage to the main stage.

Time

They perform this on the bridge, over the crowd on the floor. They basically just wave at the crowd. By the end of the song, they are all back on the main stage.

Answer To Our Life

Kevin talks a little about their different charities. I don’t really recall if there is any choreography during this song. But it sounded good live!

All I Have To Give

Their guitarist comes out into the center of the stage wearing a hat. Then Nick starts singing and comes and takes the hat. Then Brian comes out, takes the hat off of Nick, wears it for his verse and then he threw it into the audience.

If you Stay

I was totally shocked when they started singing this song! A lot of people around me asked me which album it was off of. Not a lot of people around me had heard the song before. They do a chair and hat routine and break into an acapella ending! Awesome song!

Then they introduce the band and dancers. There are a few dancers from the last tour. Regi, Richmond and Swoop I believe. I don’t think and of the female dancers are the same and none of the band is the same.

Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)

I loved the version they performed. It has a rock edge to it. They are now wearing black and gray pants with silver jackets. Nick plays the guitar for a little while and they changed the choreography up a bit. I like what they did to it J

Get Another Boyfriend

I knew I would love this song in concert and they didn’t disappoint. I don’t think I got the full effect of this song from the side. All the dancers and the guys are lined up from one end of the stage to the other, so there is one long line of them all doing the same choreography. When they say STOP, everyone stops – except for Nick. He falls to the floor. Typical Nick J

The Call

AJ starts talking to the crowd and tells them that it is the last song. Then you hear a cell phone ringing. He answers it and the song starts. The choreography for this song is amazing again, but again I don’t think I got the full effect of it sitting on the side. But they do this really sexy thing with their hips!

Encore – Shape Of My Heart

No choreography for this song. They just walk around the stage and sing.

I can’t wait to see this show again in Toronto and Detroit! It will be nice to see it once it’s polished up a little. The choreography closer to the beginning of the show was a little off. I noticed Kevin had a real problem in some spots. But I’ll forgive him J I was very impressed with the show! I hope everyone gets the opportunity to see it, cause I know you’ll enjoy it.
